Loving Kindness
πWeekly Inspirationπ
Itβs been a week β€οΈ. Itβs been said that the enemy of kindness is the belief that I am right and you are wrong. People are righteous and opinionated on both sides of the aisle right now and humility, grace, and decency are harder to find in this moment. In times like these, a Loving-Kindness Meditation can bring comfort to oneself and the people around you. This is how it is done:
First, you say or read the first stanza for yourself, then those that you care about or are acquaintances with, and then those that you do not like. You can read it multiple times. It is simple and can help to settle your nervous system.
May I be held in loving kindness.
May I be happy and safe.
May I be healthy in body and in mind.
May I always have enough.
May my heart know peace.
May you be held in loving kindness.
May you be happy and safe.
May you be healthy in body and in mind.
May you always have enough.
May your heart know peace.
May you be held in loving kindness.
May you be happy and safe.
May you be healthy in body and in mind.
May you always have enough.
May your heart know peace.
Ask Yourself:
Do I bristle about meditation? Or just this meditation?
How did I feel after considering this meditation?
How am I tolerating difference right now?
Is it hard for me to consider sending love and peace towards people that I disagree with?
How does holding on to anger and outrage affect my body over time? My mood?
What do I want to model for my children with my tone, my certainty, and my commentary about the election?
Be well.π
