Tolerance

“Tolerance is not so much a loved value as a cerebral assent.” -Krista Tippet (author & podcaster of “On Being”)

Much of life is learning to sit with something that is uncomfortable. I wish that this wasn’t true, but it is true ❤️. It can be hard to tolerate distress/discomfort/conflict, but it is not impossible. We as adults even have to remind ourselves that we can tolerate big emotions or challenging circumstances. We do not love this —and it definitely can feel like a “cerebral assent” to do so.

Ask Yourself:

Is there something that I’m having trouble tolerating? Why?
Do I often feel entitled? That I shouldn’t have to wait/tolerate/suffer?
What do I model for my children in this regard? Do they see me as able to cope, handle complexity, and be flexible?
What is difficult for them to tolerate?
Any small shifts I can make?

Be well. ⭐
