Back to School

🌟Weekly Inspiration🌟

It’s Back to School Time for youth…and it is also a good opportunity for us parents to pause, reflect, and be intentional about how we’d like to show up for this fall season. Quiet yourself for a moment and think about your strengths as a parent—ways that you connect and respond that are working well at home. Celebrate those things that come naturally for you. Commit to keep using what is working smoothly ❤️.

Now pivot and contemplate what you’d like to work on this school year…it might be how you greet your kids upon return home, it may be about mealtimes, it may be about your behavior on the sidelines of a sports field, it may be about bedtime routines, or it may be about how you communicate on a daily basis. Pick one aspect of your parenting that you are going to slowly be curious about, experiment with, and adjust to improve relationships at home. Don’t berate yourself, but breathe some patience and love into what you can improve upon! We all have areas to work on (I currently have a post it note on the microwave that reads):

WAIT:

Why

Am

I

Talking?

It is hard for me to shut my mouth sometimes and this helps💡!

Ask Yourself:

What comes naturally to me as a parent?

In what ways do my children prefer my love and attention?

What does my partner appreciate that I do?

How can I do more of what works for me?

In what ways do I want to show up differently at home?

Can I start with one simple thing to work on?

What was restorative about summer and how can I carry that into the fall?

Be well!
Sending love and strength to those launching children this fall 🕊️.
