It's Not That Deep

🌟Weekly Inspiration🌟

“Mom, it’s not that deep.”

My fifteen-year-old says this to me every week about some topic that I’m discussing 😁.

I think he’s generally correct. Usually, things are not as “deep” as I might make them out to be. Sometimes, conflict with a friend does just work itself out. Sometimes a poor test grade is not a big deal. Sometimes breaking up with a significant other by text is not the end of the world. Sometimes an opinion is simply an opinion.

Not everything has to be a teaching moment and that’s hard to remember ❤️, especially as kids get older and parents can feel pressure to make sure they’ve instilled all the good stuff! He reminds me to lighten up…and I often need that!

Ask yourself:

Do I make things “too deep” at times?  How does it impact my relationship with my family members?
Do I need to lighten up?  What is my resistance to this idea?
In what ways do my children teach me?

Wishing you a happy Fall.
